Please note that the first 10 minutes of your stay at any one of the airport car parks indicated below are free. Should your stay exceed 10 minutes, the fee charged would correspond to the price indicated for the relevant time band. After the first 24 hours, guests parked at any one of the car parks will be charged in full for every additional day or part thereof.

Customers who are entitled to a discount from any one of the outlets at Malta International Airport or SkyParks Business Centre, are requested to note that, following the deduction of the complimentary minutes, they will be charged at the applicable rates shown below for the additional minutes.

At Malta International Airport, you can find inside the Check-In and Welcomers’ Hall, as well as at the Schengen Departures area close to Gate 4 and within the Arrivals’ Corridor just before the stairs leading down to Baggage Reclaim. Locate our ATMs on our map here.

Our chapel, located on Level -1, is open on a 24/7 basis, and Mass is celebrated on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Any additional services that are celebrated on special days in the liturgical calendar are announced on this page.

While smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the terminal building, smoking is allowed outdoors, within certain designated areas. These are located outside the building near the arrivals side, at the Observation Deck on Level 3, and at the departures drop-off points, opposite the bus terminal. After security, patrons of the eatery Relish may smoke on the terrace.

You can get last-minute travel arrangements or accommodation bookings made at the airport travel agency. Located between the Check-in Hall and the Welcomers’ Hall, the agency is open from Monday to Friday between 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and closed on weekends and public holidays.

Airport washrooms in all public areas inside the terminal are equipped with fold-down changing tables. There is also a parental room after security, opposite Gate 4, that is equipped for feeding and changing children.

If you need to pick up any last-minute essentials or items to keep your children entertained while you’re at the airport, a range of shops are available throughout the terminal. If you wish to keep your buggy or pushchair with you until boarding, please check with your airline before travelling. In most cases, foldable buggies can be used until you reach the gate, where a member of staff will label them and ensure they are placed safely in the aircraft hold. Non-folding pushchairs generally need to be handed in at check-in. Airline policies may vary, so we recommend checking directly with your carrier. Airline contact details my be found here.

Before arriving at Malta International Airport, you may want to familiarise yourself with our security rules and regulations.

On your arrival in Malta you may be subject to passport control depending on whether you are flying in from a Schengen country or not.

For most airlines flying to Malta, the maximum weight of checked-in baggage allowed per person is typically 20 kilogrammes for economy-class passengers and 30 kilogrammes for business-class travellers.

At Malta International Airport, there is no restriction on the number of hand luggage items you can carry through security controls. The airline you are flying with is likely, however, to have its own limitations. Different airlines flying to and from Malta also have varying rules about luggage size and weight, so it’s best to get this information from your airline before departure.

Due to the highly diverse nature of items carried by passengers (some of which could constitute a threat to aviation security) it is at the discretion of the Malta Airport Security Department to confiscate any item that poses a potential threat.

Schengen is an agreement among European states that ensures free movement for passengers from countries associated with this judicial area. In practice, this means that people flying between Schengen countries can travel without presenting their passports. Passport control still applies to arrivals in Malta from non-Schengen states or those travelling between non-Schengen areas.

Although personal checks are not carried out at Schengen internal border crossings, it is still necessary for European Union citizens (including Estonians) to carry a passport or identity card (ID-card). Authorities (police, immigration officials, etc.) in Schengen states, such as Malta, do have the right to check identifying documents if necessary.

are in possession of a valid travel document (passport*) or recognised equivalent permitting them to cross the border;

have not been prohibited to enter through an alert on the Schengen Information System; and

are not considered to be a threat to public policy, national security or the international relations of any other Schengen State, under Maltese law or the law of another Schengen State.

From the 12th of October 2025, third country nationals departing from or arriving in Malta may be randomly selected to pass through one of the biometric passport control lanes.

Here, you may be asked to provide your passport, take a photo or scan your fingerprints. For the time being, no registration is required from the passenger’s end ahead of travelling through Malta International Airport.

Currently, children below 12 years old are only required to have their photo taken as their fingerprints are not scanned. Parents or guardians will need to provide confirmation of personal details for their child, and the child’s travel information will be logged electronically to replace traditional passport stamping.

While the system will replace the current system of manual stamping of passports, it will not replace existing visa requirements to cross an EU external border.
