Cape Town International Airport Parking(CPT) offers a variety of parking options to suit every need, whether you’re dropping someone off, going on a short business trip, or taking a long-overdue vacation. The airport has several parkades and areas, each tailored for different lengths of stay. Airport parking tariffs range for each space.

Located closest to the Central Terminal, P1 is the premium choice for quick drop-offs, pick-ups, or for those on a very short trip. It offers covered parking with the most direct access to the terminal building.

Best for: Stays under 24 hours, meeting & greeting.

For travelers going away for an extended period, the long-stay parkades offer the most economical rates. While further from the terminal, these areas provide safe and secure parking for the duration of your trip. Some areas are shaded to protect your vehicle from the sun.

Designated parking bays for passengers with disabilities are available in the most convenient locations within the parkades, primarily in P1 and P2. A valid disability permit must be clearly displayed on your vehicle.

Keep your parking ticket with you and do not leave it in your car. Before returning to your vehicle, make payment at one of the clearly marked pay stations located within the terminal building. Payment can be made with cash or a credit/debit card.

For pick-ups, you can take advantage of 30 minutes of free parking in Parkade 1 (P1). This gives you enough time to greet your arriving friends or family without any parking cost.

Currently, parking at Cape Town International Airport operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with payment made on-site when you leave. Restricted Items: To ensure the safety of everyone on board, please refrain from packing any sharp or dangerous objects in your carry-on luggage. This includes items such as knives, toy weapons, pepper spray, razor blades, and tools like screwdrivers or corkscrews.

Baggage Awareness: Always keep your hand luggage with you. Never leave your bags unattended, and be cautious about carrying items for others. If you see any suspicious packages or unattended baggage, please report it immediately to airport security or a police officer.

Traveling with Gifts: If you’re carrying gifts, it’s best to leave them unwrapped. Security personnel may need to inspect them, and this will save you the trouble of having to unwrap them at the checkpoint.

It’s best to avoid packing fragile, perishable, or valuable items in your checked luggage. This includes money, jewelry, computers, personal electronics, important documents, and any essential medication or medical equipment. House and car keys, as well as car parts, should also be kept with you.

For your carry-on, be mindful of the following restrictions: explosives (like fireworks), knives of any kind, metal cutlery, razor blades, tools, darts, scissors, and sporting equipment like bats and clubs are not permitted. Knitting needles and hypodermic needles (unless for medical use with a doctor’s note) are also prohibited.

While exact dimensions can vary by airline, a general guideline for carry-on luggage is around 55 x 40 x 23 cm. Many airlines also allow for a smaller personal item, such as a laptop bag or handbag. Always check with your specific airline for their current regulations to avoid any surprises at the airport.

Save time and enjoy a smoother start to your journey by checking in online before you arrive at the airport. Online check-in allows you to confirm your seat, print your boarding pass, and in some cases, pay for baggage in advance. It’s the best way to skip the long queues and head straight to the bag drop-off counter or security.

If you only have carry-on luggage: You can proceed directly to the security screening point with your digital or printed boarding pass.

If you have bags to check in: Head to your airline’s dedicated “Bag Drop” or “Baggage Drop-off” counter. These queues are usually much shorter than the main check-in lines.
